Melyne Cineas is a third-year Media and Communication Studies major with a minor in Law and Society at Florida State University (FSU). Her academic journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to education, leadership, and service. As an Upward Bound TRIO alumna, she was afforded opportunities in high school that profoundly influenced both her personal and professional aspirations.

Through the Upward Bound program, she was surrounded by mentors and peers who saw the best in her and challenged her to rise to her full potential. The program was dedicated to serving underserved communities, exposing students to collegiate-level expectations, academic enrichment, and the transformative power of higher education. It provided her with firsthand experience of what it means to grow intellectually, develop confidence, and envision a future beyond perceived limitations. Being immersed in that environment not only strengthened her academic foundation but also instilled in her a responsibility to uplift others.

Inspired by the individuals who poured into her life, she developed a strong desire to serve and mentor youth from similar backgrounds. She is committed to creating spaces where young people feel empowered, supported, and prepared to pursue higher education and meaningful careers.

She also comes from a family where education is deeply valued and viewed as a pathway to opportunity and long-term success. That foundation, combined with the support of transformative programs, has helped shape her path and continues to guide her dedication to service, leadership, and academic excellence.
